Whilst there are no current exhibits visiting the USA, there have been a number of shows that have recently finished touring.
Astronomy Photographer of the Year has become the world’s greatest annual astrophotography competition run by Royal Museums Greenwich. Images from the 2018 show were on display at the Vero Beach Museum of Art from June to September 2019. Images from the 2017 show were on display at the New York Hall of Science in the summer of 2018, and at the Vero Beach Museum of Art in the fall of the same year.
The exhibition Death in the Ice: the shocking story of Franklin’s final expedition explored the fate of Sir John Franklin and the crews of HMS Terror and HMS Erebus as they searched for the North West Passage. This show was developed in partnership with National Maritime Museum, Canadian Museum of History, Parks Canada, the Government of Nunavut and the Inuit Heritage Trust. The exhibition toured to Mystic Seaport from December 2018 to April 2019, and then to the Anchorage Museum from June to September 2019.
Active discussions are taking place with US institutions regarding venues who want to show the winning images from the 2019 Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition, so watch this space for further updates.
